Universal Health Services, Inc, Names Carlos A. Milanes as Chief Executive Officer of Aiken Regional Medical Centers

web posted February 16, 2009
AIKEN – Universal Health Services, Inc. (NYSE:UHS) of King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, announced today that Carlos A. Milanes, an experienced healthcare executive of more than 25 years, is the new Chief Executive Officer of Aiken Regional Medical Centers (ARMC) – effective March 1, 2009.

Milanes has been the Chief Operating Officer at ARMC for the past six years and has a strong background in managing acute care facilities.   Prior to his position at ARMC, he served as the Chief Executive Officer of Palm Springs General Hospital in Miami, Florida for 12 years.  There he had a proven track record for quality improvement initiatives, business development, physician recruitment and hospital operations.

“My mission as the hospital’s new CEO is to continue to lead us into the future and to reach new levels of excellence, so that we may continue to offer the highest quality healthcare services to this community – close to home,” Milanes said.

He holds a Master in Business Administration, a Master in Health Science and a Master in Education from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida.  He is also a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Marc D. Miller, Senior Vice President of UHS, said, “We are pleased to have Carlos Milanes leading Aiken Regional Medical Centers into its next era of growth.  He is an excellent combination of a seasoned healthcare executive and visionary that UHS is proud to have.”

Universal Health Services, Inc. is one of the nation’s largest hospital companies, operating acute care and behavioral health hospitals and ambulatory centers nationwide and in Puerto Rico.  It acts as the advisor to Universal Health Realty Income Trust, a real estate investment trust (NYSE:UHT).
