WE to Host Third Annual Oyster Roast to Benefit Local Aiken Women

web posted February 26, 2014

AIKEN – Women Enlightened for Better Health (WE), Aiken Regional Medical Centers’ women’s health initiative, grew out of the hospital’s desire to help local women take better care of themselves through support, education and care navigation.  To continue our mission, WE and Aiken Regional Medical Centers will host the Third Annual Oyster Roast to benefit the Best Chance Network.  All proceeds will stay right here in Aiken County to help women who cannot afford their yearly screening mammograms.

Over the past few years, the number of screening mammograms provided by the Best Chance Network, an affiliate of the American Cancer Society, has decreased by half.  Breast cancer is currently the leading cancer diagnosed among US women and with early detection, the five-year survival rate is as high as 98%.

The Third Annual WE Oyster Roast will take place on Saturday, March 1 from 6pm – 10pm at the Fermata Club.  Enjoy an evening of oysters, low-country boil, a silent auction, live music and more!  Tickets are $40 a piece and can be purchased at Aiken Regional Medical Centers, Allegra Marketing Print and Mail, Aiken Standard, Maxwell Law Firm and JC’s Seafood.

Mary Morrison from WJBF News Channel 6 and Jenny Perry from Kicks Morning Krew on Kicks 99.5 will be at the Oyster Roast.

The Third Annual WE Oyster Roast is sponsored by:  Aiken Regional Medical Centers, Allegra Marketing Print and Mail, A.B Beverage Company, Beasley Broadcasting, Cold Creek Nurseries, JC’s Seafood, Maxwell Law Firm, The Aiken Standard, The Fermata Club and WJBF News Channel 6.
