Man Sitting on Tracks Killed by Train

web posted April 18, 2014

AIKEN A 32-year-old Warrenville man was pronounced dead at the scene of a train striking a man reportedly sitting on the train tracks with an oncoming train around 5:15 am Thursday. According to a release from Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton, "The operator noticed someone sitting on the track approximately 30 yards before impact." The train was put into emergency breaking, however; the train was unable to stop.

The train was transporting approximately 73 cars at the time of the incident.

The man killed was identified as Robert Norman Bisou, of Southern Ave in Warrenville.

The Norfolk Southern train was traveling north, near Warrenville, at approximately 39 MPH when the collision took place.

Carlton said that an autopsy would take place on Friday and the incident is still under investigation. Toxicology tests results are pending.
