Three die in early morning crash

web posted April 28, 2010
AIKEN – An early morning car crash has left three people dead in Aiken County. Just after midnight a single vehicle believed to be driven by Troy Crawford of New Ellenton SC was driving north on Gray Mare Hollow Rd in Aiken when the vehicle left the roadway on the southbound side, struck several trees and then overturned. The vehicle at the time of the crash was traveling at a high rate of speed.

Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton said Mr. Crawford was pronounced dead at the scene along with his two passengers, 26 year old, Noah Boone of Aiken, and 23-year-old Erika N. Gregory-Ward of Warrenville SC. All three died from multiple body trauma. None were wearing seat belts.

The SC Highway Patrol and the Aiken County Coroner's Office are investigating the crash and deaths. Alcohol and/or drugs are suspected to be contributing factors in this crash.

Toxicology is pending. This brings the total number of highway fatalities in Aiken County in 2010 to 13.
