Aiken Technical College Launches Two Fully Online Associate Degree Programs

web posted July 10, 2014

AIKEN – Aiken Technical College will launch its first two fully online degree programs this fall, making it possible and convenient for students near and far to earn an associate’s degree entirely online, without having to attend classes in-person.
ATC will offer an online Associate of Arts degree and an Associate of Applied Science: Major in Network Systems Management degree.

“Aiken Technical College has offered distance learning and hybrid courses for years, but these fully online associate degrees will make pursuing higher education a feasible option for anyone,” said ATC Vice President for Education and Training Dr. Gemma Frock. “Our online degree opportunities will allow students that work full-time, take care of families full-time, or have other challenges to complete their education and attain the skills required to advance in the workplace.”

The Associate of Arts degree prepares students to transfer to a four-year college or university to study in many areas including education, humanities, social sciences, fine arts or business. Students can complete most of their general education credits for a bachelor’s degree through the online Associate of Arts degree.

The online Network Systems Management degree prepares graduates for careers as computer network, systems, and database administrators and computer support specialists.  Enlisted military personnel can complete the degree with a combination of approved military training courses, online courses through ATC, and industry recognized Information Technology certifications.

Students who pursue the Associate of Arts or Associate of Applied Science: Major in Network Systems Management online degrees are encouraged to be independent learners with strong time management and study skills.  An orientation for online learning success is offered at the beginning of each semester to help students become accustomed to online learning.

Tuition and fees for both online degrees are the same as tuition and fees for programs taught in-person. Both programs are eligible for financial aid.

Students interested in the online degree programs can learn more by visiting ATC’s Enrollment Services Center in the 100/200 building, or calling the Enrollment Services Center (803) 508-7263.
