Tri-America National Series Tour seeks volunteers

ANDERSON – 400 triathletes from across the southeast will descend on Anderson to take part in the second stop of the TriAmerica National Series Tour August 25 and 26, 2007. This event will take place on the shores of Lake Hartwell at Darwin Wright Park. Volunteers are crucial to any safe, well organized event That’s why the Anderson CVB is looking for a few good men, women and their children to help us keep the wheels turning, legs kicking and feet pounding.

Volunteers are needed to perform a variety of tasks, all of which are fun and put you in the middle of a fast paced, electric environment. The various volunteer job descriptions are listed below. Event Set Up Crew: Assists event staff set up the event site. Paid opportunity for set up and take down.

Registration: Help event staff with athlete check in and day of registrations.

Body Marking: Writing numbers on athletes bodies with a marker so they are easily identified.

Transition Area: This is the fenced in area with all the bike racks and sees nonstop action throughout the race. This person will field questions and help with traffic flow.

Course Marshals: Make sure racers know which way to go at certain intersections and turns

Finnish Line: Manual back up of triathletes finishing order. Hand out water and medals.

Water Stations/Food: Hand out refreshments at designated spots along the race course.

Packets and Shirts: Distribution of race info and materials.

Food Tent: Assist with food setup and distribution

USAT Check/Registration Cards: Verify racers are USAT members and sell one day licenses to those who are not.

Chip Retrieval: Gathers timing chips from racers after they’ve crossed the finish line.
