Happy 22nd Anniversary

A Column by the Editor

Twenty-two years ago Genia Adams, of Merriwether, married the luckiest man in the world and the rest is anything but history. High school sweethearts that never lost a love that began in 1976 in one day is a rare find. If you do not believe in love at first sight, you should.

I met Genia on her first day at school at Strom Thurmond High School in 1977, to say I was awestruck would be like saying the atomic bomb sounded like a firecracker. I marched right up to her and told her I was going to marry her. She thought I was nuts. Some people today might still agree with that opinion. However, after dating throughout high school I asked that one question I have never, for one second, regretted asking, “Will you marry me,” the night she graduated in 1981.

In case you need to know, she said yes.

Now, twenty-two years and three children later, I still feel just as blessed as I did the day she said “yes”. Happy Anniversary Genia. I hope the next twenty-two years are as fulfilling as the first twenty-two married and twenty-eight together.
