One man arrested, second sought in most recent murder
web
posted December 31, 2007
AUGUSTA – Richmond County Investigators
have arrested one suspect in the murder of an Augusta man whose
partially burned body was found in North
Augusta Thursday morning.
Authorities are looking for a second suspect in the case. Corwin
Lee was reported missing last Sunday. Lee left the Super Inn on Gordon
Highway with another man and shortly after he left, his brother
reportedly heard two gunshots.
The Richmond County Sheriff's office says it has identified two
suspects in the murder. Saturday morning one of those men, Javelle
Gordon, surrendered to police at the Law Enforcement Center.
Investigators are still looking for a second suspect, 18-year-old
Victor Scott. They say the two men shot and killed Lee in a room
at the Augusta Super Inn on Gordon Highway and then took his body in a
black Mazda and
dumped it near the Fifth Street bridge in North Augusta.
The murder is said to be drug related.
Investigator Richard Roundtree said, "Room 215 would be our crime
scene.” Lee died from a single gunshot wound to the head Aiken County
Coroner Tim Carlton said. The bullet lodged in the body and Police
recovered the bullet.
Scott is considered armed and dangerous.
