Bettis Academy hit with two burglaries over weekend web posted January 23, 2007 BETTIS ACADEMY – Two burglaries were reported over the weekend in the Bettis Academy area, the second coming Monday morning. The first took place on Saturday when an unknown individual broke into a home on the 1400 block of Bettis Academy Road and made off with over $1,000 in artwork. The second resulted in the entire home being practically destroyed. Saturday afternoon Edgefield County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the break-in on the 1400 block of Bettis Academy Road. They found the garage door to the home “kicked in” to gain entry in the home. The owner was not available and a neighbor called in the complaint. Reported at the time was the missing art work and additional information is being provided by the homeowner in the ongoing investigation. On Monday morning deputies and investigators were called to another break-in where thousands of dollars in property were stolen or damaged from a home off Bettis Academy Extension. The home was ransacked and several items taken from the home were discovered on a nearby roadway, damaged or destroyed. Investigators say they have a suspect in the latter case but would not elaborate due to the ongoing investigation. The inside of the home and contents were said to be totally destroyed. For
