Third counterfeit $100 bill surfaces in a week
web
posted May 28, 2009
BETTIS ACADEMY – Another fake $100 bill
has
turned up in Edgefield County, this time at the La Pasadita store
located at 2003 Edgefield Road on Tuesday. The clerk told deputies that
two black males and a white male entered the store asking for change
for a $100 bill, which he suspected as fake. The clerk told the men he
did not have that much change in the register but would go and get
change from the office, which is when he called 911.
According to incident reports, the clerk said one or more of the men
saw him on the phone and they took the bill back and fled the store in
a white Cougar with a Barnes Used Car tag. The car left the store
heading north on Highway 25 towards Trenton.
The only description given was that one of the black men had short
“dreadlocks” as a hairstyle.
This is the third incident involving counterfeit $100 bills recently.
Keith Bert Brand, 24, and Khristopher M. Morgan, 21, were both
arrested
after trying to pass a counterfeit $100 bill on Thursday May 21 at
the same
store and the J&L Market further down Edgefield Road (Hyw 25).
Another counterfeit
$100 was taken at the Gregs Gas Plus at the corner
of Sweetwater Road and Edgefield Road last Friday. That case remains
under investigation.
