Second fatality from crash reported
web posted November 22, 2005

AUGUSTA, GA – The wreck on Bettis Academy Road and Highway 25 on Sunday November 13 which claimed the life of Thomas Samuel Hair, 40, of Ninety-Six has claimed a second fatality. While family members held the funeral for the younger Mr. Hair on Sunday his father died at the MCG Trauma Center.

Mr. Hair’s father, 84 year old Clyde Hair, died Sunday at 12:24 pm at MCG Trauma Center as a result of his injuries sustained in the all too familiar violent crash at the intersection of Bettis Academy Road and Highway 25. Mr. Hair was rushed to MCG following the crash in which he was partially ejected as the Ford Explorer he was a passenger in flipped after being struck by a Toyota Camry entered the highway and struck the driver’s side door.

First Responders and EMS worked on Mr. Hair as he began going into cardiac arrest several times during the rescue efforts. He was transported to MCG via ambulance where he was taken to surgery; however, due to being unable to stabilize him doctors were unable to operate. He was transferred to the critical care unit where he stayed until his passing on Sunday.

The sole survivor of the family of three, the mother Madge Hair, has been released from MCG and has returned to Ninety-Six to prepare for the second funeral in the last two weeks.
