Truck stolen from Georgia dealer recovered

web posted January 24, 2007

COUNTY LINE – Edgefield County Deputies were called to a possible stolen truck found parked at a business on the 1400 block of Highway 25 Tuesday morning. A check of the vehicle identification number showed the truck to be stolen from a car dealer in Thompson Ga. On December 27, 2006. The truck had been parked at the business by the suspects for a month with the owner’s permission. The trio is believed to be responsible for at least two other car thefts in the two-state area.

The 2001 Ford Ranger XLT was left on cement blocks when the thieves removed the custom 20” Boss block chrome rims and tires. They also removed the custom taillights from the truck.

The three suspects are an older white male with a stocky build, a tall slender younger male, posing as the older man’s son, and a white female with blonde or strawberry blonde hair. They were last seen driving a mid 90’s light green Chevy S-10 Blazer with a South Carolina tag.

The suspects use false driver’s licenses and names at car dealers to take a vehicle for a test drive and never return. Reportedly the trio has stolen cars from Thompson, Lexington, and possibly Aiken County.

After Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office processed the truck for evidence it was returned to the car dealer. The case is under investigation. The stolen tires, rims, and custom lights were valued over $2,000.
