Sheriff's Deputies Respond to Man with Knife Call

web posted January 24, 2014

COUNTY LINE Edgefield County Sheriff's Deputies were called to respond to a 911 call of a man chasing family members around with a large knife following a verbal disagreement turned physical. Two of the victims were elderly. After a physical altercation the mother and grandparents were able to get outside the home and get into a car to leave, but the man ran out with a large knife chasing them, even as they left.

They met with deputies away from the home and informed them when they left the man, 22-year-old Kyser Holston, was last seen outside with black pants and no shirt.

Deputies arrived a short time later at the home and saw Holston inside and ordered him to come out of the home unarmed and his hands up. According to an incident report, he complied and was taken into custody.

Holston denied ever having a knife, though a number of knives found in the kitchen matched the description the victims described. The scene was photographed and Holston was booked into the Edgefield County Detention Center on a charge of assault and battery in the third degree.
