 Community Road home destroyed in afternoon fire web posted January 25, 2008  COUNTY LINE – A
Community Road man is left
without a home after an apparent electrical fire gutted the small home
Thursday afternoon. The man, who was next door when the fire started,
said the flames started in the front room. Firefighters found several
small electric heaters in the room. County Line and Merriwether Fire
Departments responded to the 2 pm call and the home was fully engulfed
in flames when the first fire trucks arrived on the scene.Firefighters were able to extinguish the major flames in a short period of time but worked for over two hours putting out the remaining smoldering fire in the walls and attic. The low ceilings and age of the home helped the fire spread quickly one firefighter said.  The entire contents
of the home were destroyed and the floors were
crumbling in areas due to the extensive heat. The man, who lived alone,
said he would be staying with friends until other arrangements could be
made.Due to the age of the home and the extensive damage it is considered a total loss. ©
