Man Waits over Two Months to Report Burglary

web posted January 29, 2013

COUNTY LINE – A Sandy Hill Court man called the Sheriff's Office Saturday afternoon to report a burglary that allegedly took place on November 10, 2012. The homeowner told the Sheriff's Deputy he arrive around 9 pm that night and found forced entry to the back door and nearly $900 in property missing. He did not report the burglary until he was at a friend's house and found his property there.

According to an incident report, the homeowner said he was at the friend's house and discovered the property and demanded it back. That was on January 16, although the homeowners still did not report the theft. It was not until Saturday when the friend returned a computer, but nothing else, that he called the Sheriff's Office.

In addition to the computer, a Nintendo gaming system, a $300 comforter and $400 in food was also listed as being stolen during the original burglary.

The case has been turned over to the Sheriff's Criminal Investigative Division for further investigation.
