High Speed Chase Ends in Arrest Saturday Night

web posted February 11, 2014

COUNTY LINE Edgefield County Deputies conducting a safety checkpoint Saturday night on Community Road at Knight Lane reported seeing a dark colored vehicle approach and then turn around and flee the checkpoint. A deputy chased after the vehicle with blue lights and siren in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver continued to flee reaching speeds of 100 mph.

The chase continued southbound on Highway 25 until the driver turned around by crossing the median near Fox Terrace Drive and began heading north, still at high speed. The driver then ended the chase by turning into his driveway on the 1600 block of Augusta Road.

The deputy then made contact with the driver, identified as 54-year-old Donald Fredrick Dunn, who was taken into custody without incident.

Dunn was charged with fail to stop for blue lights, DUI 2nd offense, driving under suspension 3rd of more and improper turn. Dunn refused to provide a breath sample for the breathalyzer test.
