Hospitalized Woman's Home Burglarized; Suspects Identified but No Arrests

web posted March 16, 2013

COUNTY LINE – A Ridge Road woman who is hospitalized was informed on Wednesday morning that her home had been burglarized after it was discovered by her daughter checking on the home around 8 am. An Edgefield County Sheriff's Deputy arrived on the scene and then called for an investigator to respond. Several televisions, remotes, and a VCR were noted as missing. Investigators were able to track down possible suspects in just a matter of hours.

The homeowner's daughter told investigators that a woman called her mother around 10:30 the previous night at the hospital asking when she would be coming home. At that time, the home was still secure, according to an incident report.

An investigator and a deputy went to the Murphy Village woman's house and was asked about the burglary. The woman admitted to her part in the burglary and implicated another Murphy Village woman.

Investigators were able to recover all of the stolen items from the two Murphy Village women's homes and were returned to the victim's home. However, no arrests were made at the time. At least one of the women involved in the burglar gave a written statement implicating herself and the second woman in the crimes.

It is assumed that charges are pending the issuance of warrants. Evidence was collected at the scene and the other two homes.
