Two teens "injured" in mock crash at Mt. Zion Baptist Church

web posted June 23, 2007
COUNTY LINE – The Mt. Zion Baptist Church capped off their weeklong Vacation Bible School “Rescue Zone” with a mock crash scene with the help of the County Line Fire Department. The staged scene was a car crash of two teens, one trapped inside the car and the other ejected during the crash.

County Line Firemen arrived and began the task of removing the trapped victim and treating the two teens. To extricate the driver firefighters used the Jaws of Life to pry open the door.

Mt. Zion Pastor Robert Huffman said that each night the youth were treated to agencies related to rescue. Monday night the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Bloodhound Team arrived and spoke to the youths. The Red Cross and the County Line Fire Department also made trips out during the week as well as a member of the National Guard.

The exercise lasted about half an hour and the youth were able to inspect the car afterwards and talk to firemen about their job.
