 Deputy discovers fireworks stand burglarized web posted June 30, 2009 COUNTY LINE – As the Fourth of July approaches people across the county are preparing by purchasing fireworks to light up the night and round out a day of celebration. At least some are, others, it seems, prefer to steal their fireworks as an Edgefield County Sheriff’s Deputy discovered while on routine patrol early Sunday morning. While patrolling the 1400 block of Edgefield Road (Hyw 25) the deputy spotted a fireworks stand with the door open around 6 am Sunday. Stopping to check on the situation the deputy discovered the lock to the door of the fireworks stand had been cut and contacted the owner, who arrived a short time later. An investigator was also summoned to the scene. After gathering evidence, the owner entered the fireworks stand and stated that at least $1,000 in fireworks had been taken.
