Home suffers fire, smoke, and water damage after kitchen fire web posted July 3, 2007 COUNTY LINE – The County Line Fire Department was called to the scene of a fire at a home on Blossom Lane, just off Rainbow Falls Road, late Monday night. According to officials on the scene the family was cooking when a pan of grease ignited and they tried to put out the flames with water which spread the fire to the kitchen area. County Line units arrived within minutes of the 12:21 am call and requested mutual aid from the Merriwether Fire Department. The fire was contained to the kitchen area of the manufactured home. The home suffered fire, smoke, and water damage. All occupants of the home escaped without injury. Merriwether units began arriving at 12:48 am as County Line Firemen began using a thermal imaging camera to find possible “hot spots” around the exterior of the home. The majority of the home was left in tact. Most manufactured homes will be a total loss within seven to fifteen minutes from the start of a fire. The quick response of firefighters aided in the damage to the home being diminished. Fire Officials have long stated that the best way to extinguish a grease fire is to place a lid on the pan to cut off the oxygen the fire needs. A wet towel placed across the pan will also suffice. Never try to move a burning pan of grease or other burning material from the stove. Doing so could result in burns to the hands and arms and could aid the spread of the fire from a dropped pan of burning grease. County Line Firefighters left the scene shortly after 2:10 am. For
