Car Stolen from Edgefield County Car Dealer

web posted July 9, 2014

COUNTY LINE Edgefield County Sheriff's Deputies were called to CSRA Auto Sales located at 1535 Edgefield Road (Hwy 25 south) Monday with a report of a car being stolen from the lot over the weekend. The car, a cream colored 2000 Ford Crown Victoria with a police interceptor motor, was missing from the lot when the owner arrived. Video shows the car on the lot on July 5 at 8:30 pm.

The owner told deputies that he still had the keys to the car and that no one made forced entry into his office in order to try to obtain the keys to facilitate the theft. No evidence was reported at the scene, which would have included broken glass if the car was broken into and hot-wired in order to steal the car.

Exterior video surveillance footage showed the car on the lot the night of July 5 until the cameras crow dark. The next morning at 6:40 am the footage shows the car missing. That narrows the time of the theft between 8:30 pm on July 5 and 6:40 am on July 6.

The owner stated that no one has been by in the last week looking at the car and it was kept on the edge of the parking lot. The car theft took place during the same time frame a wrecker was stolen from Pendarvis Chevrolet earlier in the morning of July 5. It was recovered in Belvedere Monday morning by Aiken County Sheriff's Deputies.

Sheriff's Investigators have not said the two thefts are connected, however; they are looking at the possibility.

The VIN# for the car is 2FAFP71W1YX164006, not tag is registered to the car.
