Metal Thieves Steal HVAC Unit

web posted September 11, 2013

COUNTY LINE Metal thieves struck a home on the 1300 block of Edgefield Road (Hwy 25 south) stealing a $5,000 HVAC unit located beside the home. The woman called to report the theft Monday morning when she discovered it missing. She told a deputy that the unit is used to cool a portion of the house that is not often used. The second unit was not tampered with.

The woman stated, according to an incident report, that the last time she saw the unit was on September 4 when her lawn care contractor were working. She did not provide a make, model, or serial numbers in the report.

The deputy photographed the scene and found the wires, copper tubing and the drain line all cut before the unit was removed. The cover to the fuse box was located and taken in as evidence to be processed by the crime scene investigator for fingerprints.

The HVAC unit was valued at $5,000, according to the report.
