Stolen Car Recovered in Aiken
web posted November 8, 2012
COUNTY LINE – A Twin Forks Drive man
called the Edgefield County Sheriff's Office after waking up and
finding his car, his key, wallet, and a laptop stolen Tuesday morning.
The man told deputies that he had a female spend the night with him and
only knew her first name and that she was from Aiken. When he awoke she
and his property and car were gone.
Deputies were able to place a BOLO (be on the lookout) to surrounding
counties, including Aiken, in hopes of locating the woman and the car.
Later in the day the car was spotted by Aiken Public Safety Officers at
a gas station on Hampton Avenue in Aiken.
Unmarked vehicles observed the car from a distance for nearly an hour
to try to see if the woman would return to the car. She never did.
The owner was later notified the car had been found and retrieved it
with a second set of keys.
According to an incident report, the woman stole the $9,000 car the man
had just purchased, a $750 laptop, and his wallet with credit cards
with around $100 in cash. The keys the woman used were not recovered.
Due to the man only knowing the first name of the woman, and having
only a phone number, the case has been turned over to the Criminal
Investigative Division for further investigation.
