Fire Damages County Line Home

web posted November 26, 2012

COUNTY LINE – County Line and Merriwether Fire Departments were dispatched to a house on fire on Fox Terrace Drive Sunday morning just before noon. When firefighters arrived on the scene heavy smoke was billowing out of the eves and vents in the roof. Some sections had fire breaking through to the exterior of the home. An Edgefield County ambulance was also dispatched in case the owner was still inside.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in about half an hour, but remained on the scene until nearly 2 pm checking for hot spots and using fans to remove the remaining smoke in the house.

As soon as the fire was under control, firefighters did multiple searches through the home and found no one inside.

The home suffered heavy fire, smoke and water damage and was not inhabitable. Aiken Electric Co-op workers disconnected power from the home.
