Trailside Drive woman arrested after stabbing

web posted December 11, 2008
COUNTY LINE – A 58-year-old Trailside Drive woman has been arrested and is being held at the Edgefield County Detention Center after stabbing her common-law husband early Tuesday morning.  According to incident reports this was the second trip by Sheriff’s Deputies to the couple’s home in the early morning hours, the first around 2:15 am and the second at the time of the stabbing just before 6 am.

In the early report Deputies were called due to a disturbance where the woman told the Deputy she was having chest pains and a hard time breathing after her partner pushed her in the chest. EMS was called and transported her to University Hospital to be checked. Before transport she informed the deputy that her partner had not touched her. After speaking with the husband, he informed the deputy that she was upset because he would take her to buy drugs.

Shortly after her returning to the home from the hospital an altercation ensued and the woman stabbed the man with a steak knife. When deputies arrived the woman, Victoria Hydrick, met the deputy on the porch as, according to incident reports, said, ”I stuck him”.

EMS was called to the scene to treat the man for a stab wound to his lower leg that was bleeding badly. A blood trail was found leading from the bedroom into the kitchen. The man showed deputies the knife allegedly used in the attack and Ms. Hydrick said, “Yeah, that’s the little knife I stuck him with,” reports stated. The victim also had a contusion to his head that he said he received when Hydrick hit him with a lamp.

Ms. Hydrick was arrested and in route to the jail began complaining of chest pains again and the deputy diverted to the Edgefield County Hospital Emergency Room. There she was treated for a short time and then refused to cooperate with medical personnel and was taken to the Detention Center where she was booked and remained in custody Wednesday night.

According to police reports Ms. Hydrick threatened to kill her partner and made threats towards the deputy as well. Information provided in the reports also indicated alcohol and drugs were being used by Hydrick at the time of the arrest. She has been charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature.
