 Socialism applauded by voters spells the end of our Republic A Column by the Editor web posted February 4, 2008 COLUMN – It is a sad day in the annals of American history when people actually swoon over Socialist candidates and their reach for greater control over citizens. Speaking on ABC's "This Week" program this past weekend, Democratic Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton said she might be willing to have wages garnisheed if people refuse to buy health insurance. "I think universal health care is a core Democratic value and a moral principle, and I'm absolutely gonna do everything I can to achieve that," Clinton said. "I think there are a number of mechanisms" possible, including "going after people's wages, automatic enrollment." "What we've got to do is have shared responsibility. Everybody has to pay something, but obviously on a sliding scale," Clinton said. "I think you can automatically enroll people, and you will then say, 'You've got to be part of this.'” Clinton added, "If you don't start with universal health care, if you don't say everybody's going to be in the system, we'll never get there.” Clinton said such measures would apply only to workers who can afford coverage but choose not to purchase it. I wish someone would inform the Democrat candidates, and so-called Republican John McCain, that the people in the United States are free to buy health insurance if they want it and are just as free not to. I don’t understand this need for socialized medicine anyway. The taxpayer already provides healthcare for the poor with Medicare and Medicaid. The truth is nobody in the United States of America goes without healthcare, even illegal aliens. Hospitals, by law, have to see a patient regardless of their ability to pay. That, and the already overreaching mandates by the Federal Government on the medical field, is what drives the high cost of medical care as it is. How will increasing government control lower costs? It won’t, and that is the plan. Of course socialists like Hillary Clinton say those “forced” to pay into the system will do so on a “sliding scale”. That means if you pay taxes and already have healthcare, hide your pocketbook, wallet, and savings accounts because you are the much despised “greedy rich”. And, if you listen closely to the Democrats, the “rich” are a husband and wife that make $100,000 a year combined. A husband and wife that are a small business owner and a schoolteacher are “rich”? However, some people are so afraid to stand on their own two feet that they will vote for anyone that is going to take their freedom on the promise of security. Of course, they do it knowing that the money for all of this is not going to come out of their pockets; it will come out of the pockets of others. I believe the proper term for taking one person’s money and giving to someone else is called stealing. I guess Clinton, Obama, and McCain think they are Robin Hood and this is Nottingham. I literally cringe when I listen to people applaud speeches given by the Democrat candidates that are full of the ideas found in the writings of Karl Marx. Never in my near half century on this earth did I think I would ever see presidential candidates promise socialism and actually have a shot at running this great nation. I truly believe that if Hillary Clinton, Barrack Oboma, or John McCain is elected, the United States of America will soon cease being a Republic and begin its painful and slow death into tyranny. The government will control you from birth to grave. It will start by the government controlling your “universal healthcare” at your birth, your government controlled childcare, education during your youth, and eventually what field of work you will do once you graduate, all the while working for the “common good”, not for yourself. You, as an individual, are unimportant. It is a fact that half of the people in the US do not pay income taxes. As soon as one of the above three get elected and amnesty is granted to tens of millions of illegal aliens, the takeover will be complete. The majority will vote to do less, get more, and force the "evil rich" to pay for it all. “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need,” compliments of Karl Marx, 1875, and the Democrat Party, 2008. ©
