Vacation is over, way too soon
A Column by the Editor
web
posted June 22, 2009
COLUMN – Vacation is over and it is good
to be back home. Although, I will say that I miss the cool days, and
even cooler nights, in the mountains of North Carolina over the past
week. Returning home from highs in the 70’s to attend the Peach
Festival on Saturday with temperatures reaching triple digits was quite
a drastic change for my body to adjust to so rapidly. As we got to the
bottom of the mountain Friday morning and temperatures were already in
the high 90’s I radioed back to my lovely bride who was following
behind, “let’s go back up."
Alas, we trudged southward as we made our way back to beautiful, yet
hot, Edgefield County.
It was a very relaxing and well deserved vacation. I spent time with
our family as we traveled over to the Highlands a few times, played
golf in the great mountain air with my son-in-law, relaxed on one of
the decks of our condos with a great cigar, or just playing games in
the evenings with our children.
It was a great change of pace from the grueling hours worked the rest
of the year managing, reporting, and editing EdgefieldDaily.com on a
daily basis. I would like to thank writers James Wise, Pastor Stacy
Williams, and Tim Crane for their contributions during this time away
from the home front as well as Mike Rosier.
I would especially like to thank our readers for your continued support
during this time. Your traffic to EdgefieldDaily.com continued to set a
near record pace for the month of June in spite of a scaled back
production of stories and coverage.
So, it’s back to the grind of on the scene coverage of events, tailing
the criminal element in our county, following local politics as only
EdgefieldDaily.com can do, and any other major breaking story as it
comes along.
Just think, it’s only 356 days (and counting) until vacation next year.
