A column by the Editor
I must have lost my mind web posted August 22, 2006 COLUMN – There are some questions you never want to ask and I am about to ask one of them. Am I losing my mind or has President Bush and the U.S. Congress lost theirs? I know there are some of you out there saying I am the one without a mind to lose, but the whole world just gets crazier by the day. Hezbollah crosses into Israel and kills a few soldiers and then kidnaps a few more for good measure. After Hezbollah’s refusing to release the men Israel warns Lebanon they will come get them. So Hezbollah lobs a few missiles into Israel and the war is on. Within days Israel pounds the southern end of Lebanon, mainly Beirut, which is controlled by Hezbollah. As Israel usually does, they were kicking butt and the terrorist organization of Hezbollah was running for the hills, literally. Of course, you would never know that reading the media reports from the Middle East by the major media players. To them, everyone killed by Israel was innocent people. Those killed by the terrorists in Israel were not mentioned, nor were they considered innocent. At first President Bush stated he would not stand in the way of Israel defending themselves from the unprovoked attacks. Then the American and World media then began portraying Israel as the aggressor and even complained because they were winning. Hezbollah complained it was not fair because Israel was fighting hard and winning. Well, along came the anti-American and anti-Israel United Nations calling for a cease fire to stop the deaths of “innocent civilians” in Hezbollah controlled Beirut. The first thing I have to question is, what good has the United Nations ever done? They have allowed terrorist states and dictators to remain in power and surrender quicker than the French. Then, from nowhere, President Bush says Israel should agree to stop winning the war and enter a useless agreement with terrorists. I could not believe my eyes and ears. President Bush, who swears the U.S. will fight terrorists and nations or states that support terrorism anywhere in the world, is beginning to take on a French accent. Let’s face it; the fact is Hezbollah is an arm of Iran. They are funded by Iran, trained by Iran, and supplied weapons by Iran. But we can’t look at that fact, that is too scary for politically correct “leaders” to admit because then they have to do something about it. As soon as the bombs quit falling, Iran funneled millions of dollars to rebuild Beirut with Hezbollah handing out the money. The media was, and still is, awash with the wonderful things Hezbollah is doing in Lebanon. Why they have rebuilt roads, opened schools, started rebuilding homes destroyed in the war they started. Why, if you read the liberal media accounts Hezbollah should have handled the relief efforts in New Orleans not FEMA. Why is it we never see that type of praise for the American efforts in Iraq? That is a rhetorical question. Then the news came today that just made me question the mental status of President Bush and Congress. We are going to send 230 million dollars of taxpayer money to help Hezbollah rebuild their den of terrorists. I must have lost my mind because that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Israel should not stop the bombing, President Bush needs to check into a metal hospital for evaluations, and the U.S. Congress should be forced to pay the $230 million themselves rather than sending our hard earned money. Everyday I wake up saying things cannot get any more upside down than they already are and then another politician or newscaster opens their mouth and proves me wrong. Case in point, the French are going to be a part of the “peace keeping force” placed in southern Lebanon and they have already refused to fight if fired on. Okay, at least some things never change.
