“Tax the rich, Give to the poor”

A Column by the Editor
web posted October 13, 2008
COLUMN – It seems at least one student at Merriwether Elementary sees Democrat Presidential candidate Barrack Obama’s platform for what it is, a plank in the steps to communism. The poster, displayed in the main hallway of the school on Saturday, encouraged people to vote for Obama to “Tax the rich, Give to the poor”.

The ideology portrayed; “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need” is a slogan popularized by Karl Marx in his 1875 Critique of the Gotha Program. The phrase summarizes the principles that, under a communist system, every person should contribute to society to the best of their ability and consume from society in proportion to their needs, regardless of how much they have contributed.

The philosophy is at the center of Democrat Barrack Obama’s tax policy when he claims he will give 95% of American’s a tax break though only roughly 50% pay taxes.

What Obama is promoting is the greatest redistribution of wealth in history. He calls people who make $250,000 “rich”. His running mate, Joe Biden, says paying taxes is patriotic. Together they will fleece the productive citizens and give their money to people who pay no taxes in the form of “refundable tax credits”. In other words, people who did not earn your money will be able to stake claim to your wealth with the aid and force of the federal government.

And since when is $250,000 a year rich? A professional couple that worked hard, got an education, and applied themselves can reach that mark easily in the business world by making $125,000 a year each. Not to mention that these families own property and autos resulting in additional tax burdens placed upon them.

Moreover, most entrepreneurs are small business owners that have to count money made by their company as personal income. Obama’s plan would tax them punitively and kill small businesses that account for the majority of jobs in this country. But it’s only “fair”. Obama's plan is the largest tax increase on the "middle class" ever imposed. (Of course, "class envy" is the mainstay of the Democrat mantra)

“Fair” is a buzzword for communism used constantly by the National Democrat Party.

Buzzwords are scripted to hide their insidious true meaning. “”Choice” is code for killing your baby through an abortion. “Progressive” is code for ultra-liberal. The list is almost endless.

The fact that a child is regurgitating the belief in a system of government this nation has fought against throughout its history as a wish for our future is sad. It also shows that government schools are not far away from being indoctrination facilities to teach our young to be good “citizens of the government” rather than independent and self-sufficient individuals responsible for their own existence and accountable for their own actions. Another plank in the process.

No, “Tax the rich, Give to the poor” is very popular with the base of Democrat voters and is on full display in this year’s presidential election. Those who suckle the teat of government handouts will vote to have government steal more of the wealth created through your work and redistribute it to those who contribute nothing. “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need”

Karl Marx would be proud.
