EdgefieldDaily.com sets all time records in 2007

A Column by the Editor
web posted December 19, 2007
COLUMN – I want to thank every reader, advertiser, contributor, columnist, writer, and supporter of EdgefieldDaily.com for a record setting 2007. Over the past years we have celebrated milestones of one, two, five, and ten million hits. In 2007, which is not over yet, over 8 million hits have been recorded and we are fast approaching 9 million for this year alone. In October the one million hits a month mark was breached by the thousands of daily visitors.

Just under three years ago EdgefieldDaily.com launched with just a few hundred readers. Within a few months readership grew to reach over a thousand. By the approaching end of 2007 over 17,000 internet addresses are accessing EdgefieldDaily.com each month for the last quarter.

As much as I, as founder and Editor, would like to take credit for the explosive growth of EdgefieldDaily.com, I cannot. That honor belongs to you, the reader. With the exception of our first full page ad in the 2007 Strom Thurmond Rebel’s Football Program, EdgefieldDaily.com has never bought advertising and has relied on “word of mouth” recommendations for new readers.

EdgefieldDaily.com is unmatched in readership and coverage of local news in Edgefield County and is the primary source of other media reports, both print and television, as a contributor for breaking news. EdgefieldDaily.com has been cited in more local breaking stories by area television news reports in 2007 than both local papers combined in the last five years.

EdgefieldDaily.com was founded on a few very simple premises. Our motto; “We will never report what never happens and we will never quote what is never said… everything else is fair game.” Our belief that not all news is good news. And above all, that information is free, and that is why EdgefieldDaily.com does not require readers to register or pay to read EdgefieldDaily.com.

Unmatched on the worldwide web is the Wandering Minds which, to my knowledge, is the only bulletin board or weblog that does not require a poster to register in order to have their comments posted.

In closing I would like to say how humbled I am for the support that EdgefieldDaily.com has garnered over the years. It has exceeded any expectation that those involved in the creation of EdgefieldDaily.com ever expected. We look forward to setting more records in 2008.

Thank you and may you each have a very Merry Christmas celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.
