Why Newt? Because He Can Defeat Both Opponents - Obama and the Media
A Column by the Editor
web posted January 26, 2012
COLUMN – It was within the last few days
leading up to the primary that I reached my decision on who to vote for
in the Republican Primary held Saturday. It is obvious that the
candidate that the Republicans run against President Obama will not
only have to run against Obama, but also the "main stream media" -
which demonstrably leans further left than him. Newt Gingrich has
proven he is that man.
In the week leading up to the primary the leftist media was in full
attack mode against Gingrich since he has chided the media talking
heads acting as moderators at GOP debates and won the battle in the
eyes of the general public. When it came to the all important South
Carolina primary, they were out for the kill, bring down Newt with
charges of racism and wild accusations from an ex-wife.
Not only did Gingrich hand them their hats, he ate their lunch as well.
He was the only candidate to get three standing ovations during the two
South Carolina debates while doing so, and he was the only candidate
that ever got a "standing-O" during the debates. It was not just his
supporters that rose to their feet, it was the entire audiences.
In addition to standing his ground and winning, he was the only
candidate that could fully explain, in simple terms, what conservatism
is and why it works. Needless to say, with the stark contrast of a
failed President Obama to point to, Gingrich was able to distance
himself from the other three who stumbled over their own beliefs during
South Carolina responded by giving him double digit wins in 43 of the
states 46 counties.
It is now off to Florida with a big push from South Carolinians, who
have selected the nominee every election since 1980.
Although I wish I could take a part of each of the four remaining
candidates and roll them into one perfect candidate, it is not
possible. If I could it would Gingrich's vast historical knowledge and
debating skills combined with the morals of Rick Santorum, the fiscal
constitutionalist views of Ron Paul, and the business experience of
I believe that the only candidate standing right now that can take on
Obama in one-on-one debates and walk away the winner is Newt Gingrich.
