I'm a Multi-Millionaire, How Lucky am I!
A Column by the Editor
web posted April 25, 2011
COLUMN – As the month of April continues and emails
pour in, I have learned that I could be worth as much as $780 million.
I usually decry those who look at others out of work or working in low
paying jobs who say they are "lucky" for having the job they perform.
Those who have jobs in the workforce during the recession deepened by
President Obama are not "lucky". They work hard and have their jobs
because they are crucial to the profitability of the company. But, I am
lucky. I have people sending me emails promising millions of dollars in
profits if I will just give them my personal information.
So far I have been promised 10, 20, 50, 150 and even 250 million from
sources such as US military personnel finding millions in barrels in
Iraq, long lost family members I never knew about, foreign lotteries I
never entered and multi-millionaires that died with no beneficiaries
and a crooked lawyer willing to share the money if I would just be a
One even promised hundreds of millions of dollars if I'd help deposed
President Mubarak of Egypt in laundering billions.
How lucky am I?
Out of the billions of people on this planet, these complete strangers
are contacting me!
I should be a billionaire by the end of the month. I can't wait!
I know, most readers are calling foul by now. However, the sad part is
millions of people are duped into falling for such scams each year. And
do not be so foolish as to think that it is happening everywhere else,
Each year the Edgefield County Sheriff's Office receives reports of
those who are scammed out of thousands before they realize they have
been hooked by a scammer.
Be assured that anyone that offers you anything for nothing, and then
asks you for your personal information, is asking for everything.
I generally delete these email as soon as they come in, but for once I
thought I'd actually dig a little deeper. Below is an email I received
on Sunday afternoon.
indignation if this message comes to you as a surprise and may offend
your personality for contacting you without your prior consent and
writing through this channel.
I am SGT.FEDERICK
SMITH ,assigned to 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine
Division, western Anbar Province in Iraqi am presently in Iraq
and I am seeking your assistance to evacuate the sum of $10,570,000

assured that it will be safe in your care until I complete my service
SOURCE OF MONEY:
During a rescue operation, some amounts in various currencies which was
concealed in barrels with piles of weapons and ammunition at a location
near one of Saddam Hussein's old Presidential Palaces was discovered
and it was agreed by all party present that the money which is
considered as been SPOILs OF WAR be shared amongst us. This might
appear as an illegal thing to do but I tell you what, no compensation
can make up for the risks we have taken with our lives in this
hellhole. The above figure was given to me as my share and to conceal
this kind of money became a problem for me, so with the help of a
German contact working with the UN here (his office enjoys some
immunity) I was able to get the package out to a safe location entirely
out of trouble spot. He does not know the real contents of the package
as he believes that it belongs to an American who died in an air raid
and asked that the package be handed over family. Your confidentiality

Rest assured, anyone offering you millions for such a scam is looking
to steal from you, not enrich you…just themselves.
