Call 803-480-4051 or 888-606-5083 The style of Martial Arts taught will be Ko To Su Ha Shito Ryu. This style is derived from the traditional Japanese systems of Motobu Ha Shito Ryu, Koga Ryu Kobudo, and Katsu Ryu Kempo. The base system of Motobu Ha Shito Ryu will be taught primarily. The influence of the Katsu Ryu Kempo style will not be evident until the students are at an advanced state of training and this will take a considerable amount of time. The traditional system of Motobu Ha Shito Ryu requires a great deal of discipline and structure and will teach the students etiquette and discipline. It will also give them structure and help them to have a positive attitude. The students will be taught to be respectful and obedient to their parents, teachers, and authoritative figures. The students will be encouraged to use ma'am and sir when appropriate. The system also teaches the students to have self-confidence. Children who practice Martial Arts are encouraged to take chances and push themselves further than they thought would be possible. The success they experience through Martial Arts teaches them that they can be successful at anything, if they are willing to work hard. Many children who bully other children have self-esteem issues and Jack confidence. Students who practice Martial Arts develop higher self-esteem. They tend to have a good circle of friends, better grades in school, stay away from gangs, and perform better in extracurricular activities. This is also taught through inner school, as well as individual and team competition local and statewide. Competitions teach the students that in life sometimes you win, and sometimes you lose. The students will learn that winners never quit and quitters never win. The students are encouraged to have good sportsmanship. Martial Arts training and competition helps to work many of the aggressions that are held within. The students are discouraged, however, from displaying aggressive behavior inside and outside of the class. Very few sports emphasize mental discipline while combining the body, mind, and spirit. Martial Arts is unique, and can be used as an alternative to team sports. Martial Arts not only develops the physical skills of an athlete, but it also teaches students to focus and develop mental skills such as concentration and memory. Carolina Combat Systems teaches three forms of self-defense. The first form is internal. Students will learn to spot and avoid dangerous people, places, and activities. The system will help the students to avoid the need for physical confrontation through awareness and mental focus. The second form is physical. Students will improve their strength, flexibility, and overall health. The use of alcohol, drugs, and tobacco products is highly discouraged. The third form of self-defense the student will be learning is to strike with tremendous power and effectiveness. We hope that our children will never be teased or bullied, but if they have to, we want our children to be able to protect themselves. The students will have some training on how to defend themselves during a physical altercation. The strongest emphasis, however, is on the first form of self-defense, which is the most valuable of the three.
