County Administrator issues press release web posted July 26, 2006 EDGEFIELD – Edgefield County Administrator Wayne Adams issued a Press Release on July 24, 2006 on official county letterhead. The release reads as follows: “July 24, 2006 Press Release To: Local Media Re: Information Technology (IT) support access to Eleventh Circuit Court Offices It has come to my attention that misinformation is being spread on a certain website stating that the Eleventh Circuit Court denied access to Edgefield County’s IT support contractor when the state informed us of viruses on that office’s computer several weeks ago. Attached is Judge Keesley’s memorandum of July 20, stating his perspective on this issue in his own words. We would appreciate your making this information known if you are presented with information to the contrary. (signature of Wayne Adams) Wayne Adams, Edgefield County Administrator” (The Press Release is available here in .pdf format) Attached was an internal and confidential communication between Judge Keesley, Mr. Adams, and the County Council. EdgefieldDaily.com cannot disclose what was contained in the private communiqué. Of interest was the disclaimer on the bottom of the memorandum sent by Judge Keesley, “The information contained in this facsimile message is privileged and confidential information intended only for the use of the individual or entity named above. If the reader of this message is not the intended recipient, you are hereby notified that any dissemination, distribution, or copying of this communication is strictly prohibited. If you have received this communication in error please immediately notify us by telephone and return the original message to us at the above address via the US Postal service.” Judge Keesley’s Office was unable to be reached by phone so, in accordance to South Carolina State Laws, EdgefieldDaily.com will turn the original transmission (sent to us by other media locations as a press release) over to the Eleventh Circuit Court as required. Rather than mail the papers we will hand deliver them to Judge Keesley’s Office on Wednesday, July 26. The memo did not contain support for Mr. Adams' "misinformation" claim.
