The numbers are in: Calliham’s vs. New Building
web
posted September 22, 2009
COUNTY – The proposed cost of remodeling
the Calliham property versus building a new building has been received
on Monday, according to Edgefield County Council Chairman Monroe
Kneece. The complete summary, accompanying specifications, and plans
have not arrived. Chairman Kneece stated the county council would be
discussing the estimates at the October 6 meeting. The initial
estimates were not provided Monday; however Chairman Kneece said, “I
don’t like the numbers”.
The complete information package should be arriving this week. The
initial numbers came via email to Building and Planning Director Mike
Reed and were then provided to Mr. Kneece. A Freedom of Information
request has been submitted to Mr. Reed’s office for the information.
Chairman Kneece insinuated that the proposed costs were higher than he
expected and asked Mr. Reed to get clarification on some parts of the
report before commenting further. He reiterated that the county is not
locked in to purchase the Calliham property.
Other members of the county council stated they had not received any
information on the proposals as of Monday night and were unaware of the
costs prospective being received.
EdgefieldDaily.com will make the information available once it has been
provided.
