Cold and rain does not hinder burglary reports

web posted January 22, 2010
COUNTY – Though the cold weather and rain may have dampened the spirits of most residents, two area women discovered their homes the target of burglaries Thursday morning. The first report was received by the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office of a man inside the home on Eastview Road and the second came within the hour of a woman being awakened from her sleep of someone inside her home.

Deputies responded to Eastview Road residence after the woman confronted a man inside her home, who she identified by name. After a short investigation, officers were able to gather enough evidence to proceed with the application of a warrant for the man’s arrest.

His name is not being released until formal charges in the case have been made.

An hour later, around 11:20 am, a woman called 911 to report that she was awakened by someone inside her home on Bell Circle, off Rainbow Falls Road. She was able to flee the home to the home of a nearby family member and watched the residence until officers could arrive.

Deputies arrived and found no one inside. Nothing, according to early reports, was taken from the home.

Both case remain under investigation, according to information obtained.
