Three Burglaries Reported Monday

web posted January 25, 2012

COUNTY – Ten days without a burglary was pleasant non-news for county residents, then Monday happened. There were four burglaries reported, though one reportedly was by a roommate that returned to gather his personal items and do a little mischief along the way, leaving the true count at three - and each of those being reported about 20 minutes apart.

Around 1:20 pm
Monday an Edgefield man called to report an unoccupied home on Moores Drive was burglarized sometime between Thursday and Monday, when it was discovered. According to an incident report, the person or persons gained access to the home through a window where an air conditioner was removed and then replaced after the burglary.

Taken form the home was a Thomas-Arron pool table, valued at $2,000, and a red generator valued at $400. No serial numbers were available.

At 1:41 pm a call came in to report that an $1,800 Graco 404 paint sprayer stolen from his shed by a North Augusta man. The Dock Drive man told the deputy that the suspect came to his Merriwether home on January 14 and asked to use the sprayer and was told it could not be borrowed. The report states the man then went to the shed and took the sprayer anyway.

The homeowner said he was unable to stop the man from taking the sprayer having just arrived home out of the hospital. The case has been turned over to investigators.

A third reported burglary came into the 911 dispatch at 1:54 pm when an Eastview Road man reported that someone entered his barn and made off with almost $700 in property and tools. According to the incident report, the man found a Craftsman riding mower, a silver diamond plate toolbox, and a 24 inch girls bicycle missing.

The man was last at the barn on January 9 and discovered the theft on
Monday.
