Funny money turning up around the county

web posted March 30, 2006

COUNTY – Counterfeit money is turning up in the area once again according to reports filed with local authorities. So far this week three cases involving a total of $80 have turned up in Trenton and Johnston.

In Johnston, the Three Way Food Store has been targeted twice, once for $30 (using a $20 and a $10 bill) and the second time with two twenty dollar bills with the same serial number (EB85577161J). A Hispanic child thought to be around ten years old passed the two twenties. When he was confronted about the money, he ran to a car that drove off.

Town and Country Store in Trenton received a counterfeit twenty-dollar bill by a black male in his early twenties, thin, and no facial hair.

All three cases have been turned over to the United States Secret Service for investigation
