Burglaries and thefts count rises to nine for the week
web
posted April 30, 2010
COUNTY – Burglaries and thefts continue
this week with four more reported on Wednesday and early Thursday
morning. All combined, $10,000 worth of property was taken. Once again
the majority of the thefts occurred in the Merriwether community.
A Johnston man reported early Thursday morning that someone entered his
garage sometime between 8 pm Wednesday night and 7:30 am Thursday
morning and stole his 2003 silver Cadillac. The theft was rather easy
to pull off as the owner left the keys in the $8,000 car.
On Wednesday a woman on Millcreek Drive reported someone broke into her
jewelry box and took nearly $1,000 in gold “rope” necklaces, a
bracelet, and a diamond cluster ring. There did not appear to be any
forced entry to the home.
Copper wire and assorted bolts were reported stolen from the Hagler
Systems on the 800 block of West Five Notch Road on Wednesday. The
value of the items was listed at $1,000.
Also in Merriwether, a Silver Maple Drive man reported a compressor
stolen from his home Wednesday afternoon. No details were available and
the compressor was valued at $200.
So far this week there have been at least nine burglaries or thefts
accounting for almost $17,000 in stolen property.
