Fishing Rodeo big hit with area families web posted May 14, 2007 The rodeo is presented by the Law Enforcement Association to give area youth a chance to “get hooked on fishing, not on drugs”. The Merriwether Fire Department cooked 1,500 hot dogs, Pepsi provided free drinks, and Mayfield Ice cream in association with 105.7 FM, The Bull, gave away 800 ice cream bars. Among the many sponsors were the Merriwether Fire Department, US Forestry Service, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, Pepsi, Smith Oil, Quail Unlimited, Eaves Oil and Propane, Jim Satcher Ford, Alex Hamilton Paving, Mathis Realty, Monk’s Corner, Edgefield Fuel and Convenience, Log Creek Timber, Johnston IGA, others, including area law enforcement agencies.
