Edgefield County Economic Leader announces Veracity Payment Solutions
Opens Service Center in Aiken
web
posted May 22, 2008
AIKEN – Edgefield County Economic leader
Fred Humes announced Veracity Payment Solutions has officially opened
their new customer contact center in Aiken, S.C. with a ribbon cutting
ceremony this week. The company’s $3 million investment will bring 100
new jobs to Aiken County.
“This is an exciting opportunity for me and the Veracity organization,”
said Brenda Stein, senior vice president for Veracity. “I have the
privilege to work with an organization that is making a difference in
the Aiken community which is my home.” Aiken has a diverse labor force
that will enable Veracity to be successful, and I’m proud that this
community is contributing to our achievement.”
“We are extremely excited to become a part of the Aiken community,”
said Joe Cohane, chief executive officer with Veracity. “We selected
Aiken as the base of our North America operation because of the
partnership approach and support we encountered when working with the
local businesses, city and state agencies and community leaders. We
value relationships that foster success for all involved and we found
that spirit here in Aiken.”
Veracity's new customer contact center is located in the former Belk's
at Kalmia Plaza. They occupy the rear 15,000 sq. ft. Their
long-term plans include the potential to expand into the remainder of
the 41,600-sq. ft. building.
"We are excited by Veracity's grand opening and their commitment to
create 100 jobs," said Ronnie Young, Chairman of Aiken County
Council. "They are already pleased by the quality of the labor
pool they have seen, which has exceeded their expectations. I am
confident that this is just the first of many announcements from
Veracity that we will see in the years to come."
"On behalf of the City Council, we are pleased that Veracity located in
this existing building at Kalmia Plaza," said Mayor Fred
Cavanaugh. "It takes vision to look at an older facility and see
its potential. Veracity now has a premiere location within the
City of Aiken with great access to shops and restaurants, which makes
it a great place to work."
"Veracity continues the growth of our service-sector, which reflects
the national trend," said John Troutman, Chairman of the Economic
Development Partnership. "As the manufacturing-sector continues
to contract due to overseas pressure and technological innovations,
companies such as Veracity will gain greater importance as we strive to
create quality jobs for our community."
Veracity is actively looking for qualified customer service
representatives, customer service managers, information technology
designers/developers and information technology managers.
Interested persons may apply at the Aiken Workforce Center located at
1571 Richland Avenue, East. ReadySC, South Carolina's nationally
ranked worker training program, will provide free training for
individuals selected to participate.
