Burglary numbers continue to climb, two more reported Thursday

web posted May 29, 2009
COUNTY – Two more burglaries were reported on Thursday in an almost daily onslaught of a crime trend that has been taking place since the first of this year and has increased to dramatic levels in the last two months. The first reported burglary came in about a home on the 1000 block of Stephens Road early Thursday morning when a family member arrived and found the back door kicked in.

Deputies arrived and cleared the home and called for the Sheriff’s Forensic Investigator and Crime Scene Unit to arrive to process the home for evidence. The owner of the home recently passed away and his son arrived to check the property and discovered the burglary. A few items were taken from the home but a full inventory had not been taken.

Shortly after clearing from that crime scene a homeowner on the 100 block of Crest Road called to report returning home just before 1 pm and finding the back door to the home kicked in. Deputies responded to the home within minutes and after evaluating the situation called for the Forensic Investigator and Crime Scene Unit, and shortly afterwards called for the Sheriff’s Bloodhound Team to respond to try to track a possible suspect.

The bloodhounds were unable to track a scent from the home. The investigation continued throughout the day and a list of items taken during the burglary was not available.

This is the second burglary on the 100 block of Crest Road this week. A similar burglary was reported on Monday.
