County still not responding to requests Edgefielddaily.com web posted July 19, 2005 EDGEFIELD - Edgefield Daily.com has informed the County of Edgefield six times to be informed of county business and announcements of meetings, legal notices, and other such information the county releases for public consumption. All requests have been ignored. We e-mailed Clerk to Council three times with our requests, wrote letters twice, and hand delivered a written request to Clerk to Council Barbara Stark at the July 5. 2005 council meeting, yet the county refuses to release the requested information. Edgefield Daily.com is going to allow the county ten more days to begin their required response before taking action to force compliance. Given the present situation concerning the county and a directed and proven track record of bias against Edgefield Daily.com by the Administrator’s Office the refusal will be met with stern repercussions. The only county office that refuses to disclose public information to Edgefield Daily.com is the County Administrator’s Office. The county is required by law to provide the requested information. We hope the county abides by the law without having to be forced to, which we will if it becomes necessary. UPDATE 7/19/05 9:45 am Clerk to Council Barbara Stark called and asked to fax a notice for the public hearing being held tomorrow night (we already have the notice). She stated she could not e-mail the notice and did not have our fax number. We reminded her that the number was provided and written on the last request when it was personally delivered to her at the last council meeting. Return to Main Page
