Tax Free Weekend in Georgia

Edgefielddaily.com
web posted July  29, 2005

COUNTY – The Georgia Tax Free Back to School Weekend is here. Edgefield County residents, who are able to take advantage of our close proximity to Augusta, can enjoy buying school supplies, computers, blank CD’s, backpacks, and a long list of items listed at www.gatax.org.

As an added bonus residents enjoy the South Carolina Tax Free Weekend beginning Friday, August 5 thru Sunday, August 7 ending at midnight. Additional savings can be had by having the ability to shop in either state by taking advantage of the best sales to stock up.

The South Carolina Department of Revenue provides a website for complete information of listed items that are available tax free. In South Carolina the allowable tax free items listed have been expanded to include blankets, pillows, and even shower curtains.

Several teachers we spoke with said they take advantage to buy up on supplies they use in teaching and thrifty shoppers also said they take advantage of the weekend to purchase computers and office supplies, and now in SC, even some basic household items.

Happy shopping!
