Woman attacked by man hiding in home Edgefielddaily.com web posted August 11, 2005 COUNTY - Due to the fact this is an ongoing investigation, and to protect the identity of the victim, Edgefield Daily.com will be very general in this report. A young mother had walked her child to the bus stop and then returned to her home just off Highway 25. Once inside she entered her bedroom and was attacked by an unknown black man. She was thrown to the bed where she began to fight off her attacker. Biting the hand of the man she was able to escape and police were alerted. The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Department has a man in custody on suspicion of the attack. A line-up was to be made today however the woman is Hispanic and does not speak English. The only available translator was in court. Sources said the man in custody also had outstanding warrants for drugs. A line-up is scheduled for Thursday morning and if the man is charged Edgefield Daily.com will follow up with the attacker’s photo and information. The quick actions of the Sheriff’s Department resulted in capturing the suspect. Police said the attack was an attempted rape. Return to Main Page
