Who has the cheapest gas? Edgefielddaily.com web posted August 17, 2005 COUNTY - Edgefield Daily.com took a look at local gas prices to see where the best prices were. Edgefield had the cheapest while Trenton had the highest. With gas prices rising at ten cent intervals lately saving a few pennies, or as much as a nickel, adds up on fill-ups. The cheapest gas in Edgefield County was found at Dodges Store on Edgefield Road in Edgefield with a low of $2.41 a gallon and Billy’s at the Pine House intersection topped the list at $2.49 for regular unleaded of those we contacted. Prices around Edgefield hovered at an average of $2.42 a gallon while prices in Johnston averaged $2.45. Merriwether fairs well with area outlets averaging $2.43 and Sportsman’s Corner, a main outpost for residents in the area, posting a price of $2.44 a gallon. Those hardest hit are residents who live on the Northwestern part of the county where prices were all in the $1.50+ range in bordering county stations.
