Three charged in separate shoplifting cases as reports increase in number

web posted September 1, 2009
COUNTY – It seems larcenies from citizens' properties are not the only thing on the rise, in the last few days Edgefield and Johnston Police have worked or made an arrest in five shoplifting reports. At least three people have been charged in association to the cases including a store employee who did nothing as a man walked out with five cases of beer without paying during multiple trips inside the store.

On Sunday afternoon Edgefield Police arrested Shaurail Labreck McEachin, 38, after she was seen taking a pack of cigarettes and walking out of the Edgefield Fuel store on Main Street. She was stopped a short time later and had the cigarettes in her possession.

Rebecca Rena Dublin, 28, was arrested days after video tape showed a man walking into the Amoco store on Addison Street and making off with cases of beer as he entered and left the store four times, speaking with Ms. Dublin, taking a total of five cases of Budweiser and Bud Light beer. She was charged with breach of trust. The man, who has been identified, has not been arrested at this time.

39-year-old Fredrick Turner was arrested and charged with shoplifting at the Citi Trends store on Lee Street in Johnston on Friday. According to incident reports, video tape shows Mr. Turner stuffing clothing under his shirt and walking out without paying.

Other cases not resulting in arrest include one at Citi Trends and another at the Johnston Dollar General.
