Judge Peeler honored at conference of
elected officials Edgefielddaily.com web posted September 19, 2005 EDGEFIELD – Edgefield County Probate Court Judge Robert Peeler was given an award Friday by the South Carolina Association of Countywide Elected Executives (SCACEE) for, “service and dedication of your fellow man,” and “selfless work,” on behalf of the SCACEE to do what is right the award read in part. SCACEE is comprised of members of all elected officers in the state which would include coroners, auditors, treasurers, sheriffs, probate judges, and the like. Judge Peeler also suits on the Board of the SCACEE. He told Edgefield Daily.com he did not know they were going to present the award at the past weeks conference held in Myrtle Beach SC. “They just stated talking about service and the next thing I know I was being given the award,” Judge Peeler said. The award was presented by the past President of the SCACEE, Dean Fowler from Florence County. SCACEE was formed when the SC Association of Counties voted out all countywide elected officials. That vote was later rescinded but countywide elected officials still have no "voting rights" in the SCAC. Judge Peeler tried to brush off the award as nothing and asked how Edgefield Daily.com knew about his receiving the award. We reminded him we do not reveal our sources. Edgefield Daily.com would like to congratulate Judge Peeler for the award and also thank him for his tireless service to Edgefield County. On the web: SCACEE Purpose of SCACEE: To provide adequate balance in county government by working to ensure the people's right to elect officials who are directly accountable to them. To promote better public awareness of the services, functions, and challenges of member offices. To offer means and ways to better serve the public. To promote more efficient and effective county government. To work with other organizations to achieve common goals. To study, discuss and recommend improvements in government. To provide the opportunity for members to exchange ideas and experiences. To promote, encourage and participate in the continuing education of its members.
