Edgefield County’s Department of Building and Planning is seeking Codes
Enforcement Officer/Inspector

EDGEFIELD – Edgefield County’s Department
of Building and Planning is seeking qualified applicants to fill the
position of Codes Enforcement Officer/Inspector. Responsibilities
include monitoring and enforcing compliance with IBC Codes, Edgefield
County’s planning, zoning ordinances, and land development
regulations.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the
inspection of new construction work and renovations for adherence to
minimum State/International building standards, the enforcement of
state criteria for mobile home setups and installations, and the
execution of various clerical duties associated with the
position.
Preferred qualifications include an Associate Degree/2 year Technical
College, with course work in such areas as public administration,
zoning and land use, and construction management, supplemented by one
to two years of relevant experience.
Edgefield County will consider candidates with any combination of
education, training, and experience that provides the requisite
knowledge, skills and abilities for this job. This position
requires that you attain and maintain state certification as a
Residential Building Inspector or Provisional Building Inspector.
Applicants must also possess and maintain a valid South Carolina
driver’s license. Normal work week is 35 hours.
Starting salary $23,315 or greater depending on qualifications.

background checks, and DMV checks on prospective employees.
