 web posted September 25, 2007 COUNTY – A Merriwether man called the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office to report the theft of an ATV from his backyard over the weekend. The yellow 2004 Honda Rancher 400 4x4 was taken from the back yard of the man’s home on the 2500 block of Martintown Road during the early morning hours on Saturday. The value of the 4-wheeler was estimated to be $5,900 and has a vehicle identification number of 478TE290844009260. The case has been turned over to the Investigative Division for further investigation. A Trenton man reported the theft of a Yard Machines 17.5 horsepower riding mower with a 42” cutting deck and a black 4x7 trailer from his home on the 200 block of Courtney Road Saturday night. The man told the deputy the trailer and tractor was last seen in his front yard and was taken between 2 and 8 pm Saturday. The mower is said to be black in color with yellow rims. The mower is valued at $1,058 and the trailer at $600. The Sheriff's Office is currently investigating several other thefts of items from county homes including pressure washer, tools, and other goods taken from porches and yards. Residents are advised to secure their property to prevent similar thefts from taking place.
